COWBOYS 4 LIFE! SUPERBOWL BOUND!
IRVING -- Cowboys cornerback Terence Newman has been out with a pulled groin since early in training camp and his status for Sunday night's regular-season opener remains uncertain.
Newman didn't practice Monday with the Cowboys at Valley Ranch but he did go through more work with the athletic trainers, including some resistance workout.
"We knew Terence was going to be out for a while and we pointed toward about this time for him to come back," Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said. "So we have to see how he responds this week and the next couple of days and see if he can prepare the way he needs to prepare to play a ball game."
Garrett said the Cowboys will need to see Newman practice before he's allowed to play in a game.
"Absolutely he has to practice. The degree to which he has to practice we don't have any concrete rules about," Garrett said. "But you have to practice. We have to have a great feeling about him having prepared on the practice field before playing in the game Sunday night. Article by Brandon George
